At Gracie's soap shack we handcraft artisan soaps in small batches using the cold process method combining a blend of both modern and traditional natural ingredients to lock in goodness.
We believe soap doesn't have to be boring, it can be naturally cleansing, nourishing and beautiful.
We are always working on big ideas for our little soaps!
Gracie's soap shack is a small home based artisan soapmaker.
All of our products are made in small batches with a blend of carefully selected ingredients and traditional methods to retain as much of their natural goodness and nurturing qualities as possible.
Our range includes an array of soaps ranging from the classic, naturally soothing blend of milk, honey and oatmeal to our strikingly beautiful sweet dreams bars with their bold colours and rich berry fragrance and everything in between so you're bound to find something to suit everyone's taste...if not, please feel free to contact us with any suggestions or requirements you may have.
A little more about Gracie's soap shack...
I am passionate about soaps!!! I just love them, I love soaps in all different shapes, sizes and colours. I grew up with "decorative soaps" in the dish on display at home...more than 25 years on I still remember the way they looked and felt, I even remember their scents...they were beautiful but they weren't to be used. Instead of those beautifully handcrafted, fragrant soaps we'd be using mass produced bars from the packet in the airing cupboard.
Then, one day I realised I was doing the same thing...I was displaying my vast collection of artisan soaps just as my mother and grandmother had done before me. That was the turning point, I decided to stop and actually use the coveted soaps and i've never looked back.
Handmade soaps feel different, they nurture and nourish your skin in a completely different way. I became interested in what goes into different soaps and why, I learned about the benefits of those ingredients and the ways they were used. I decided I'd like to try to make some for myself, I read as much as I could about soap making, i got all the ingredients together and whipped up my first ever batch of milk, honey and oatmeal soap. I poured it into my makeshift mould to set and two days later I cut the soap into bars and left them to cure, turning them everyday for six weeks until the day finally came when I could try it out. That was it, I was in love with soap making!
I made more and more batches, experimenting with ingredients, trying different methods, colours, fragrances etc. Over time I learned what works for me and now I am proud to say I have finally started my own small business. I still have the same excitement I got with my first ever batch and I still make all of my soaps in small batches of 10-20 bars per batch because I believe it's the best way to really connect with the soaps I'm making and ensure they are and continue to be, handcrafted with love.
